Nominations for the Oscars 2017 and for the BAFTA Award



Together with Dustin O’Halloran, Volker Bertelmann composed the score for the Garth Davis directed film ’Lion’ starring Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, and Dev Patel. The Weinstein Company backed feature is based on Saroo Brierley’s autobiography, ’A Long Way Home’. The score has been nominated for the Golden Globe, the BAFTA Award as well as for

the Oscars 2017.

Ashes in the Snow

Hauschka scored the Marius Markevicius directed film Ashes in the Snow, a World War II drama based on Ruta Sepetys’ best-selling novel Between Shades of Gray. To be released in 2017.

In Dubious Battle

Hauschka completed his work on the score for James Franco’s adaptation of the 1936 novel by John Steinbeck. Cast: Selena Gomez, James Franco, Bryan Cranston, Robert Duvall. Theatrical release TBA.

Dein Selbstportrait

Hauschka wrote the score for Sönke Wortmann’s project that was inspired by Ridley Scott’s ’Life in a Day’. DEUTSCHLAND. DEIN SELBSTPORTRÄT is an interactive film project and collective self-portrait of the country, based on thousands of individual voices, filmed on one single day in summer 2015.

Hauschka & Nicolas Altstaedt: "Lost"

Inspired by Federico Fellini’s script for perhaps the most famous unmade film in Italian cinema, The Journey of G. Mastorna (1965/6), Hauschka wrote a piece for cello solo, prepared piano, and string ensemble. The work was co-commissioned by VivaCello Festival Liestal, Duisburger Philharmoniker and Kings Place London and premiered at VivaCello Festival Liestal in September 2016.

Exodus – Where I Come From is Disappearing

The Brazilian-German coproduction Exodus – Where I Come From is Disappearing is a feature length documentary that depicts the current scenario of global human dislocation, chiefly refugees. It tells intimate, dramatic stories of refugees from different parts of the world, who were followed over a period of 2 years.

Hauschka & Alma Quartet Amsterdam

A collaboration between Hauschka and Alma Quartet with concerts at Amsterdam Concertgebouw and a performance on occasion of the Hauschka-curated concert series The New Romantics at Schumannfest Düsseldorf 2016. Alma Quartet is a versatile string quartet with players from The Netherlands’ top two orchestras, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.

HAUSCHKA announces limited editon vinyl live album ’2.11.2014’

This limited editon vinyl LP documents two 20 minute improvisations that were recorded in Japan last year November and are very loosely based on his last album 'Abandoned City'. The result is a captivating energetic stream of consciousness set to music. In parts this appears even more like a DJ set, you may dance! The album will be available on June 22nd digitally and as a limited vinyl edition.
